Our little bean

Well I'm over a week late with this update, but better late than never hey! Our early scan went well and our little bean looks so cute in there!

We got to see the heartbeat flickering on the screen, which considering bubs is only 12mm in size, was pretty amazing! She dated me at 7+3 or 7+4, which is exactly what I thought, so all is well :)
Hubs couldn't stop looking at the screen and I think it's finally sunk in that there is something in there!

Hello again!

So, I have been rubbish at updating this! I just don't seem to have the time to post but I'm going to make the time from now on. Anyway, I'm 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow! It has actually gone really fast considering we found out quite early. We have an early scan booked for next Thursday where I'll be 7 weeks and 4 days, so I'm just praying everything is ok. I feel lucky that I've had no pain or bleeding and I'm hoping that's a good sign. The nausea has kicked in - not good! Every morning I feel like I've been out drinking the night before, it's awful, but I've found sitting up in bed eating ginger biscuits before I get up helps massively! Apart from that I haven't really had many other symptoms - tender boobs and quite a bloated tummy but that's about it aside from the tiredness. I'm going to start weekly updates with bump/bloat pics from 8 weeks I think, it'll be nice to be able to look back at it in the future. So I'll be back next Sunday!

Telling the 'rents

I have imagined seeing that word for so long! It also confirms that my dates are correct, as if I did OV on 8th April, I'm 4 weeks and 1 day pregnant today. I've booked an appointment with my doctor on Wednesday morning, so I'm planning on telling my manager (who is also a friend) tomorrow. She told me about her pregnancy last year this early, and if anything went wrong she'd have to know anyway. Which leads me onto the next thing, we told our parents yesterday. I think that has got to be one of the most nerve-wracking experiences ever! We told the in laws first, and they were really pleased, it will be their third grandchild. Then we went to tell my parents, I was so scared as I just didn't know how they were going to react. But they were over the moon! And very excited as it will be their first grandchild :) We are seeing my sister and her fiancĂ©  on Wednesday so will tell them then, and my brother and his girlfrield on Friday. I know some people don't agree with telling everyone until after a scan, but I would want their support if anything did happen, and we had arranged a family holiday to Egypt in October, which we obviously won't be going on, so we want them to know. An exciting week ahead!

4 weeks

I can't be 100% of course, but going by my dates and the ovulation date Fertility Friend gave me, I'm officially 4 weeks pregnant today! I've tried to explain to J that I'm technically only 2 weeks pregnant, but he doesn't really get it. Bless him! I used my last test this morning:

Definitely darker :)

I'm going to use my digital one in the morning, and then try and book in with my GP. I've ordered J this book (under his request for one) which looks funny. And I've made a lengthy spreadsheet of most of the things we'll need to buy, to work out an average cost. I know it's very early for all of this really, but I'm trying not to focus on the fact that miscarriage rates are so high. I'm living for the moment, and right now, I'm pregnant until proven otherwise!

Is this really happening?

So J wouldn't let himself get excited. I couldn't either to be honest. I must have looked at the photo of the test on my phone about 153,058 times that day. It could be a faulty test. It can't have happened this easily. J wanted to see a dark line before he'd believe it, so we stopped off on the way home to get a supply of tests, and agreed I'd do one every morning, and if the line got darker every day, we might let ourselves believe it...

11 DPO

12 DPO

13 DPO

Maybe it's about time we did?!

Our lucky month!

We were off to a good start, as just two days after starting the OV tests I got a positive two days in a row:

So we got down to the business ;) We had done the deed on the right days and I was now faced with the dreaded two week wait, which always consisted of symptom spotting every single day. But this month was different from the others. I felt different. From 7 DPO (days past ovulation) I had cramps on my left side, a different feeling to period cramps, and as crazy as it sounds, I just felt like there was something in there. I didn't mention it to J, not wanting to get his hopes up as he wanted this as bad as I did. I'd promised myself I wouldn't test until I was late, but on the morning of 11 DPO J had gone to work early (we usually go together) and I woke up hot and dizzy. I was so so tempted to test, if it was negative he wouldn't know I'd even tested, and before I knew it it was out of the wrapper and sitting on the side next to me developing. After a couple of minutes I glanced over and thought my eyes were teasing me. There was a line. There was a line! I realised that in my rush, I hadn't even turned the light on, so I took the test to the bedroom and there it was. A bit faint, but clearly visible. I couldn't believe it. Shaking, I sent J a text:

Where it all began...

So let's go back to the very beginning! I'm H and my husband is J. We met in 2007, moved in together in 2008, got engaged in 2009 and got married in 2010 :) I/we wanted a baby back in 2008, but I always wanted to be married first so it got put on the back burner whilst we purchased our first home and I (impatiently) waited for J to propose! We decided to wait a little after the wedding and began TTC (trying to conceive) in May 2011 when I stopped taking my pill. Unfortunately, my body had other ideas, and I had irregular cycles varying in length from 45-72 days, with the shortest being 39. Being a control freak, this totally stressed me out, I diagnosed myself with every problem imaginable thanks to Dr Google, and we decided to take a break from it all in the hope that my cycles would calm down and regulate themselves. That didn't happen! So in March 2012, armed with ovulation tests, we tried our hardest once again to make a baby...
